![]() But, if it does look good or you want the extra inches (I personally love the extra inches, but that's because I roll around a lot) then upsizing is definitely to be considered.Īlso something to keep in mind: Linen duvet covers shrink a bit after you wash it (like cotton), so expect your duvet cover to shrink about an inch on each side (three inches is about the most I've seen a linen duvet cover shrink length and width-wise each, so it's possible for it to shrink more than one inch on each side). ![]() Though, I do agree that sizing up is best for most people (especially those that have a really deep mattress or box springs), but if adding about an extra 5 inches width-wise on each side isn't to your liking then you probably won't like upsizing. You can custom-order things if that's your wish, but unless you want to swap out an old insert for a new one (or try a new fill material) then your old one should do. Like I said: I absolutely will put up with anything that bunches if it keeps a duvet insert from sliding around and so the Linoto duvet cover, even if it's a few inches too big for your duvet insert, will be fine. I have a silk insert that's bunched near the bottom since mine is longer lengthwise, too, and the bunching doesn't bother me at all. ![]() Plus, fill materials can give it a 'fluffy' or 'relaxed' look depending on which one you use, but honestly. There are a lot of people on here that can attest to how much better it is to have a duvet cover that's a bit smaller (either lengthwise or widthwise) than a duvet insert. This is important because if you have one side that is bigger on the duvet insert than the duvet cover is, it means that it won't slide like crazy and will be so much easier to deal with. Let me explain why: the Length will be longer on your duvet insert than it will be for your duvet cover, which is ideal (you always want a duvet insert that's a bit longer than your duvet cover). If your duvet insert is 88w x 96l and the Linoto duvet cover is 90w x 92l then you'll mostly be OK, imo. Third question: have you seen this size or anything close (88"W x 96"L) anywhere else? I'm a little concerned by how little is available in this size, but it's not like you buy new bedding every day. How much do you think a little is? One inch? Anyone have success with this approach? Second question: I've heard that ordering a duvet cover that's just a little too small for the duvet makes it look nicely fluffy. Anyone have a setup they like and want to share a picture? A little concerned about it looking like a puddle in my small room, and I do have nice wood on the bed to show off. Their queen size is 90x92" so I believe I would have to buy a custom size (which they do) or buy a king duvet cover and a new duvet insert to go with (or a different queen comforter, I suppose).įirst question: I'm looking for images of king-sized comforters over queen beds. I'm looking at purchasing a Linoto linen duvet cover to go with some linen sheets I just bought. The Riley is woven densely enough that it kept every scrap of feathery comforter fluff tucked inside.I have an LL Bean comforter and duvet cover, and I'm beginning to realize as I look around for new duvet covers that its a bit of an unusual size: their queen is 88"W x 96"L. I had no idea it was shedding until I removed the cover to wash it. I also tested this cover on a new comforter I’m testing for our comforters guide, and that comforter shed loads of feathers inside the Riley cover (it will not be a pick). And each morning when I made the bed, I noticed that this duvet was lighter to hoist up over the sheets than the Brooklinen cover I typically use in spring. After a wash and a few weeks of sleep tests, this cover only improved. In spring 2022 we tested the Riley duvet cover, and it is just as smooth out of the package as the sheets. It’s also Oeko-Tex–certified, like most of our picks. ![]() The coordinating percale sheets have been an upgrade pick in our cotton sheets guide since 2019, and the fabric is thin but sturdy, crisp but still soft, and light as air. Why it’s great: We recommend three percale duvet covers in this guide, and Riley’s Percale Duvet Cover is the most luxurious.
